Translational research has proven to be a powerful process that drives the clinical research engine. It is one of the most innovative fields in Chinese Taipei. However, a stronger research for medicine could strengthen and accelerate this critical part of the clinical research enterprise. The purpose of this conference is to provide a forum for sharing information and experience among government officers, entrepreneurs, and research scientists involved in policy making and technology R&D in the field of biotechnology.
The main theme of this conference is the Policy and Strategy on Biotechnology and the issues to be addressed include:
1. Discuss the plan for building a collaborative network within the APEC member Economies
2. Identify biotechnology business opportunity, competitive landscape, and market growth
¡@ dynamics in APEC region
3. Discuss the strategic and novel approaches to nurture current biotechnology industry
4. Examine the current problems or issues discouraging the improvement of biotechnology

At the 6th APEC- Biotechnology Conference held last July, more than 150 participants from ten member economies took part in the conference. There were excellent speakers from 7 member economies to share their experience on the development of biotechnology industry.
This year, the APEC-Biotechnology Conference will be held in conjunction with the 2008 BioBusiness Asia Conference and the 2008 BioTaiwan International Exhibition. Activities will include concurrent trade exhibition, workshops, business forums, scientific conferences, etc. We expect to gain active involvement across government, academia, and industry both at home and abroad.
